Expanded perlite is obtained by expanding the volcanic glass rock of the same name at high temperatures. During this irreversible process, the expanded rock acquires distinctive characteristics such as exceptional lightness, excellent physical properties, including high thermal insulation capacity, and its typical white colour. Expanded perlite is also inorganic, stable and chemically inert. Expanded perlite is used as a growing substrate in nurseries, for young plant propagation, soilless and hydroponic cultivation, horticulture, floriculture, fruit growing and soft fruit production.
