The festooned planter box is a traditional Tuscan-style element used in agriculture, nurseries and gardening, both for its decorative function and for its technical characteristics suitable for cultivation. In terracotta models, the natural porosity of the material allows good breathability and moisture management, preventing water stagnation that can damage roots. If used outdoors, the pot, especially in plastic/resin, is drilled at the bottom to allow drainage, sometimes helped by supports such as raised bases. Terracotta provides excellent thermal insulation, protecting roots from temperature changes, a feature ideal for Mediterranean plants and citrus.
