The festooned pot is a traditional Tuscan-style item used in agriculture, nurseries and gardening, both for its decorative function and for its technical features suited to cultivation. The truncated-cone shape of the festooned pot makes repotting and plant removal easier, making it suitable for growing plants and shrubs.
In terracotta models, the natural porosity of the material allows good breathability and moisture management, preventing water stagnation that can damage the roots. When used outdoors, the pot, especially in plastic or resin, is drilled at the bottom to allow drainage, sometimes supported by raised bases. Terracotta provides excellent thermal insulation, protecting roots from temperature changes, an ideal feature for Mediterranean plants and citrus trees.
